Staying Safe When Working Onsite
06.07.20 What precautions and measures should you take when working onsite?
COVID-19 has presented new difficulties with on-site work that have not been faced before. So, how can you ensure that, as an engineer, you stay safe whilst completing your essential onsite work? Below is guidance updated since the Government guideline change on July 4th.
At All Times
-
Avoid touching your face (eyes, nose and mouth)
-
Regularly wash your hands (for 20 seconds) or use hand sanitiser
Before You Go
-
Check your temperature regularly
-
If you feel unwell (e.g. temperature or persistent cough), do not go to work. Self-isolate for 2 weeks before returning.
Travelling to Site
-
Travel to site alone where possible e.g. drive or cycle
-
If sharing transport is necessary, open windows and face away from other passengers. Ensure the vehicle is cleaned regularly
-
If you need to take public transport, wear a mask and adhere to social distancing as much as possible
-
Consider staggering site arrival times to avoid busy periods, particularly if using public transport
When Onsite
-
Keep 2m away from others when entering and leaving the site, or 1m where this is not possible
-
Hold group meetings in outdoor areas
-
If you’re working in close proximity to others, wearing a mask is recommended
-
Frequently clean surfaces that are commonly touched
-
Try to bring in your own food and stay onsite during break times
