26/01/15 The National Renewable Energy Centre in Blyth, Northumberland 11th of March
The next date for your diary is Wednesday 11th March, when AEMT members will get a fantastic opportunity to visit the National Renewable Energy Centre (NAREC), where the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult is based.
AEMT Members have a privileged opportunity to find out more about the facility including creating the test facility, the technologies being developed and how you as SMEs can collaborate with the Catapult. After morning talks and networking opportunities we will visit the test centre, where a tour of the facilities include:
• 50m and 100m blade test facility
• 15MW wind turbine nacelle test facility
• 3MW tidal turbine drive train test facility
• three dry dock facilities
• UKAS accredited electrical and materials laboratory.
The facilities attract and provide a supportive environment to get new technologies ready for deployment sooner. They provide a controlled environment to perform accelerated life testing and proof of concept trials, helping to improve device reliability, reduce product costs and accelerate the development and deployment of offshore renewable energy technologies in the UK.
ORE Catapult is one of a network of seven elite technology and innovation centres established by the InnovateUK as a long-term £1.4bn investment in the UK's economic capability. Applying business-led research, Catapults help businesses transform great ideas into valuable products and services to compete in the global markets of tomorrow.
