AEMT Awards 2017 - Review
05/12/17 Review of the inaugural AEMT Awards and Gala Dinner
An evening of celebration!
The inaugural awards of the AEMT, representing electrical and mechanical trades, took place at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Coventry last Wednesday, the 29th of November. The venue held an audience of 137 delegates representing 44 companies from the UK and Europe, who all came together to celebrate the achievements and technological advancements within the industry.
As one of the sponsors of the event, the EMiR Software team were delighted to share the evening with Mike and Angela Robinson from Wire Electric Supplies, Dave Rausi of Anstee and Ware and our colleagues from EASA, Mathis Menzil the President of Region 9, Frederic Beghain, its General Manager and Johan De Coster, Regional Director.

The AEMT Presidents opening address
As the current president of the AEMT, Gary Downes welcomed the audience of sponsors, the AEMT’s media and PR partner, finalists and invited guests to the evening - congratulating everyone on their early adoption of the idea and for getting involved. Gary went on to highlight the esteemed history of the AEMT and the commitment of members and presidents since its inception in 1945. The speech also focussed on the challenges the service & repair industry faces, including how advancements in technology would offer both the customer and repair business every opportunity to pre-empt equipment wear and failure, and the current plans of the AEMT council to continually improve the benefits of the organisation to its members. An abridged copy of the speech can be downloaded below.
Congratulations to EMiR customers
We were delighted to celebrate the success of three EMiR customers at the awards who earned the highest accolade in the following categories:
-
Technical innovation of the year, Project (sponsored by EMiR Software), Awarded to Central Group
-
Rising Star Award (sponsored by TEC motors), Awarded to Ryan Davis of Rotamec Engineering Solutions
-
Contribution to Skills and Training (sponsored by WEG motors), Awarded to Houghton International for their Apprentice Programme

A little game of “heads and tails” for charity, raised an amazing amount of £1325.50 for the International Red Cross, an emergency aid service, not unlike the service offered by AEMT members who are the first people on site when something goes wrong. A great achievement and something that everyone that attended can take pride in.

Get involved in 2018
In a few short months, the next round of award nominations will be invited to get your product, service, company or individuals the recognition they deserve. The awards night has been an excellent way for us to celebrate a very busy year and we will undoubtedly continue to sponsor the event. With the council’s intention to launch an accompanying exhibition and speaker conference next time, 2018 promises to be an even better event, so keep an eye out for more details!
Well done to everyone involved!
